Default Installing 90q 20v Suspension on a 4kq

Here's the long version....

About a year ago, I bought a 1991 90q 20v for VERY cheap money ONLY because I wanted the later suspension for my 4kq. You know, the 2 piece struts, later sway bar, rear sway bar, and so on and so forth.

So I swap all 4kq parts under this 90q and resell it. The only thing that needed to be changed was the right front axle because the stock 4kq unit was too short. I found one at a junkyard from a 1988 FWD 80/90 5 Speed and the fit was PERFECT. Other than that ONE piece, everything was a direct bolt-on.

Fast forward to yesterday when I am (finally) trying to install the 90q parts into my 4kq. I had COMPLETELY forgot about the fact that I needed a different axle for the 90, so it would stand to reason that I would need a different axle for the swap into the 4kq....sure enough...I got everything bolted to the car and I go to pop the ball joint into the strut housing and I can't even get close. The 90q axle is too long by about 12mm (maybe a little more).

Has anyone ever done this and/or does anyone have a solution for this? ETKA does not list axle lengths, so simply going through ETKA and finding on the right length is, obviously, not going to work. I was thinking something from an Automatic FWD car might work as I *THINK* the transmissions were wider and given the fact that strut housing didn't move, the axle must be shorter. Maybe a B4 V6 car? Whatever I use, needs to have the bolt to hold it to the hub (not an nut) and has the smaller 8mm bolts that hold it to the tranny flange. Maybe fit the outer C/V joint from the 90q onto the 4kq shaft, but I don't know if the splines are the same or if it will be held on with the same circlip.

Anyone?
