Just a thought on front swaybars...
I noticed when I had my car on the lift the other day, that the "arms" on my front swaybar are quite long. In fact, the swaybar mounts on the subframe under the engine, but the endlinks are all the way behind the strut. Since the middle (straight) section is the "spring" of the bar, if you could shorten the arms of the stock bar (shorter lever arms = less force) wouldn't the same diameter bar seem quite a bit stiffer? Has anyone done this before? It seems like even bringing the mounting point back to the front side of the strut would make a difference. Any thoughts?

Yes, a shorter arm on the bar would produce more stiffness for the same diameter.
Just like when you use a long bar to break loose a nut or bolt on a car. The longer the breaker bar, the less force you need to break loose the fastner. Same thing applies.
But you have to remember, that the front bar dips down for a reason. The end links twists as the strut turns. On the earlier coupes and 4000s, or the rear bars on a coupe, the end links are mounted to the lower arm, the end links don't need to twist.
One reason for the longer bar.
