Just when I thought my car was running great... check engine light again...(long)
In the last few months, I have replaced my MAF and my O2 sensors. The car was running fine until today. I was accelerating from 30 to 60 in 2nd gear and it came on. Since then, I have driven about 30 miles. The engine hestitates severly when I give it gas. Any ideas what it could be?
Could my O2 sensors be bad? If so, what would cause them to go so quickly?
Could it be a cat causing this? One was replaced over the summer. The other sounds like it is in good condition, though after a spirited drive I smell a little bit of sulfur.
I just had my exhaust reconfigured, I don't see how this could cause any problems because nothing before the cats was touched.
Thanks for any help.
Mike

Would an air leak somewhere in the intake cause this? I'm at a total loss here....
so bitter this is happening again. If the check engine light comes back on, I'll try and read the codes.

Did you check the engine fuses?
In the front fuse block where there a just a few of them (not the big row) there is one that in related to the MAF curcuit. My car did the same thing initially and the fault codes led me there. It blew one more time, but not since 4 months now. Obviousely something is causing it, and I am about to attack the wiring harness with some stuff called "corrosionX" that disolves corrosion in electronics. But fuses are cheap enough that you could blow one every day for a year and save money over replacing a $100 part

Check the engine code...
I have the EXACT same symptoms. Turned out to be a bad knock sensor #1. This retards timing by 12 degrees, causing the engine to tweak, and kills gas mileage. I still need to replace mine; but I don't get to see my car till thanksgiving (college).
Btw, it's a $50 part and about 1/2 - 1 hour of labor.
