Default Loud fuel pumps
So, how loud should they be? I can hear a constant hum/buzzing pretty clearly so I'm wondering if mine is on the way out and if it could be part of the problem I'm having w/ the car killing when I put the clutch in after I drive it a few blocks.

Default All I can say is that the fuel pump on my CQ is still the original.....
one with 140K on it and is quiet as a church mouse. Of course I've never run the tank to reserve...ever.

Changed my original at 208K. Was not failing, precautionary.

Default both times I had a fuel pump die I had a hesitation w/ anything over 2k revs...
Stalling when you clutch in sounds more like an ISV or vacuum/breather system issue.

Mine's been making that noise consistently for 6 years. No signs of giving up yet.

Default Replaced mine when I bought it. There's a noisy pump, and there's a NOISY pump...
Mine was noisy when I got it, then went south about a week after. Since then I always try to refill before the 'red zone'.
