Default oem radio help pls

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/87073/p9050402.jpg"></center><p>I have this radio, and the volume button is eratic near the lower range of the volume.

What I mean by eratic is that it some times it maks some noises as you turn the **** and sometimes the radio couts out compleatly for moments.

I know that the POT inside is probably durty but I have no idea of how to get at it. I have tried pulling the **** off but it does not seem to come off like most other radios...

Do I have to pull the radio out to get at it ?
Is it fixable at all ?

Any experiences shared are greatly appreciated thanks !

Default dont think its worth it to try and fix it, maybe an aftermarket, or a used on for cheap?

i put in a pioneer couple years ago, much more power, and cooler looking :O). Plus CD, MP3, Sub Control and 6 cd control

Default You might want to get a can of electrical contact cleaner from Radio Shack...

<IMG SRC="http://rsk.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pRS1C-2264867w345.jpg">

...and just spray the hell out of the **** (trying to get it behind the **** and into the switch). Keep turning the **** as you spray and it just might clean it up. It's worked for me on an array of switches and such that I didn't want (or have the time) to take apart.

If not, I think you'll have to remove the radio and figure out how to take the face off, then use more cleaner.

Default yea, I was thinking of doing that, but the **** has so little space between the radio that nothing

is going to get in there....

I guess pulling the thing out is the only way to fix it...

and then there is an audi sticker on my back window that the radio has some kind of code/security whci I have no clue about. So if I take it out and than it does not work I'll be kicking my self...

Default Yeah you need a radio code, usually with the owners manual.

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/61867/90interior.jpg"></center><p>That is the whole reason I ripped mine out, no code when I bought it and it was already in safe mode. I now have an old Sony Xplod in there I had hanging around, fits pretty well (doesn't lock in tho). I just need to do that thing to get the rear speakers working. And now that aftermarket CD changer I have doesn't turn on, Doh!

Default you might wanna then try to get a good used one

call like Shokan or Force5. As long as they have the radio code you could get a good used unit.
