Default Power Window Problem ... (97 Cabriolet)

I was putting my top down after work yesterday ... the top went down fine, but when I put all the windows down the passenger side rear window made a loud sound like the window slipped out of its track ... I looked back and it was fully down. When trying to raise it you can just hear a grinding noice like the hardware pushing against the window ... I can raise the window manually by reaching in and pulling it out ... but its not supported by the window lifting hardware and will fall right back down ... even after hitting the button to raise that window ... this happened to anyone else before? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Default OOOoooo, sounds like cable got eaten up inside. Possible window Reg replacement needed

Have to take it apart and see for a better answer though.

Default Sounds like the regulator crapped out...it's a relatively easy/inexpensive fix for the CQ....

I did a writeup on it awhile back, it may help but keep in mind there MAY also be some differences (like part numbers)...

Window Regulator Rebuild

My local German Car garage estimate $1000 parts and labor to fix this ... how unreasonable is that? He said $400 for the regulator ... and $600 for the labor. Seems steep to me ...
