Problems with my fathers 88 80 Quattro
Ok this has been happening for the last month, It has problems starting the car, it cranks for about 5-6 seconds and than, the idle is so low that the car turns off unless you keep your foot on the gas. It's in that state for about 2 minutes, after that it work pretty good untill it warms up when it works excellent. Could it be the Idle Control valve, or maybe the Cold Valve start, or if not what else can it be??
Any help gladly appriciated

Not cold start valve if it starts......
Could be one of the temp senders in the block which tells the computer what the cars state of order is. Also idle by-pass valve is not culprit either because car is not warm enough for the valve to kick in. Check fuel system too. BTW does the car do the same thing on a hot start?

Re: Not cold start valve if it starts......
WEll on hot start it will somethimes present difficuly to start. The temperature gauge in the cluster somethimes works and somethims it doesnt. But the problem is when its cold car shuts off, unless you maintain the idle by pressing the gas?
