Why not install a switch instead of just cutting the wire?

You still have to cut a wire to splice in a switch.

My comment was more about people seeming to want to just cut it and be done with it. I would rather have the option to deactivate it, rather than just deactivate it permanently.

True but just clipping the wire does not permanently activate it, it only removes the 15mph deactivation, you still have the option of activating and deactivating the rear differential lock with the button.

I would count this more as a personal preference sort of thing.

I guess I wasn't that specific. All I'm talking about is the speed deactivation. The switch on my car isn't actually for it, it's for the brake lights (but I want to add another one for the diff speed cutoff).
