Default Rear fog/reverse light question

Probably a stupid question but I figured I would ask it anyways, lol. Is it possible to fit a H3 HID bulb into the rear foglight spot? Has anyone done this? Will the bulb be to hot for the lense? I just had someone get right on my *** tonight on a pretty steep hill. I was thinking a little HID reverse fog action would learn them good

Default My Seima/Tresser tails actually have a H3 fog light socket... [edit]

...as of right now I have a 55W H3 bulb in there, although, I don't keep it on, for fear that it might melt the lens/housing.

I haven't been able to find a lesser wattage bulb, so, I'm thinking it's meant for that wattage...who knows...

The housing for that bulb is different than other tail lights though, as there's a reflector in the section for the fog light.

So without completly "hacking" the taillight, I don't know if it really is possible to add a H3 socket/reflector...

When I get back home tomorrow I'll post a picture or two of the socket (I took them because I asked other forum member with tinted tails if they had this socket, but none did -- but they have the Hella tails, not Seima).

Default prolly too much work to make fit. Tresser/Siema tailamps came stock with an H3 rear fog

check out SCarGo02's picposter... he has these unique tailamps on his B4, and I think he has pictures in his account.

otherwise I think it'd be too much of a PITA to bother thinking about. But then again, anything is possible ;-)

check yah later

Default I will have.........

to take a look at my tails. Should be the same as I have the same tails as you, I think.
Now I am not much of a headlight/bulb guy but do HID bulbs burn hotter than regular bulbs? Would it melt the lense if it was only for only a few seconds? I really just want to do this as a "get off my ***" light.

HID is typically thought to be "cooler" than regular filament/halogen bulbs

Default If you have Hella tails, you probably don't have the H3 socket as they only seem to be in the Seimas

Also, I *think* this is only for Seima B4 tails, although, I could be wrong.

But would still be a pain to properly retrofit....

Are they Seima or Hella? And you have a B3, not a B4 (right?), so they're not the same tails...

Default Hmmmm........

I will have to take a look tomorrow. I have a few halogen h3 bulbs lying around. Will have to see how hard it would be to make it fit. Doesnt need to be pretty or anything just stay in place.
