Default S2 Front bumper for the CQ

Europrice has them, and i am wondering if they are DOT friendly. Meaning will i be able to keep my bumper beam. Also No offense to Europrice but that is a large jump in price from the front and rear bumpers, granted it comes with the lights but is there anything special about the lights? Really looking into a new bumper since the one on the coupe is broke and really ticking me off now.

Comments appreciated.

Default Rebar must be removed, or shaved down A LOT.... Not technically DOT legal, but oh well...

My shop made me sign a little page saying I knew what I was doing... Now I just try not to parallel park anywhere. The only problem is, whenever I look at how nice the front looks, it makes me want to get a new rear bumper as well. Oh well.....

Default No way you'll fit the Al beam behind a factory S2 or RS2 bumper.

They definately are not DOT friendly either.

Default You could have someone make you a rebar but then that just ups the cost...

and you will have accept some compromises like no lites in the bumper as shown.

Default So the conclusion is that either keep it stock or...

Cut the beam down or take it out. So then both bumpers need to be cut down or removed in order to fit. Guess its time to talk to some friends with shops and see whos got some good tools.

Hmm a torch, or a big grinder?

Default Like I said, that will not work with a FACTORY S2/RS2 bumper.

They are NOT constructed like the aftermarket versions that you can modify "easily" with glass/bondo. The plastic construction has a good size section crush zone to help protect pedestrians. The aftermarket covers don't. This gets in the way of any sort of DOT-esque Al beam behind the cover.

IIRC, someone tried to keep their rebar by tapering both ends... There was a picture...hmmmm...

The lights are Porsche and the RS2 front is fairly elaborate..
