So here's how it works, I treat my Audi to a pretty new bumper, and she treats me to a NO-START.

How do I check if I'm getting fuel??
I'm about to head out and run Vag-com to see if there are any codes. She turns over, but doesn't start up...

geeze, can you hear the fuel pump?
you can disconnect the lines to the front and see if you get any spit of fuel. Get like a bucket or cut the top off a milk jug and prime the fuel lines, do not crank over, see if you pump is working. If any codes, could be cam shaft pos sensor.

Pull one of the spark plugs right after you crank. If it smells like fuel.....
you got your answer. Or just stick a stiff piece of paper in the spark plug hole, crank the engine, then pull the paper out to see if it is wet with fuel.

Went out for vagcom, started right up...shutoff, ran vagcom (no engine codes), won't start again.
I guess my fuel pump just clunked dead.

I did this, and all I got was a bunch of air.
Does this limit the diagnosis to bad fuel pump or fuel pump relay?
Anything else I should consider before ordering both?

Even simpler than that. You can just put your hand on a fuel line...
while turning the key to "on". If the pump runs and fuel is circulating you can feel fluid being pumped through the lines. No tools required.
