Default Steering rack gaiter question...

I was replacing the inner tie rod coupling this week and noticed a small tear in the gaiter on the steering rack end. The tear is on the top, and is right above where I suspected a leak from something else. What is the proper procedure to r+r. It seems simple , but with these cars there always the do's and don'ts I always end up finding after I'm done fixing it. I know there are kits and I want the little bugger clean befor I fix it. I will not take the rack out!!!!! I simply don't have time for that now. Any advice appreciated.

Default I just paid to have the boot replaced - it was 2 hours of work - I think they spent more time

The rack does not have to come out.

this was on a 95 Audi 90 - not sure what the process is on your car
