Default stuck on o2 sensor removal, got one out, can't get the other out...help?

i checked out the search section and couldn't find an answer.
i got the right o2 sensor out with no problem (i have the tool), but the left side for some reason won't allow the socket to go down all the way. It looks like the metal coolant pipe below the valve covers is in the way.
the socket can go all the way down on when the slit (for the wires) is up against the pipe, but when I torque on it, the socket just slips.....

CAN ANY ONE HELP ME?????

Default the socket has to fit, once it does, extensions, strong craftsman rachet and a breaker bar are your

best friends.....good luck.

Default it fits. i think it's because the slot on the side allows just enough tolerance for it .....

to fit. but when i twist the socket with rachet, it doesn't want to grab the nut and just moves up enough that it has no effect.

disconnect the plugs before so that the wires spin freely
