Tear in the top

Tear in the top
I just purchased a old Cabriolet and the top has two little tears on it. Luckly I live in San Diego so it really is not much of an issue for me but I am afraid that the tears are going to get worse. I am trying to figure out some way to just nuetrilize the rips, possible some sort of iron on patch or maybe just good old fashion duct tape. Any suggestions. Thanks!
