Is the car that you are looking at got any mods, is it on the original turbos, does it have any warranty?

Default Well, the manual is running like a dream

I have been working on some odds and ends lately. I finally got my self a set of burled walnut aux gauges and a burled walnut shifter. So I will do some interior work shortly.

And I also picked up a set of 83mm pistons for the motor rebuild, stock are 82.5, so this is the second size overbore. Best part about it is that they are $1000 pistons that I got off of Ebay for $200, with rings nonetheless.

I wanted to drive my car for a bit so I haven't started any major projects, figure I'll wait till november when I take her off the road to start that stuff. As far as the car, I am starting to need new driveshafts (they weren't rebuilt at the time of the swap), but I have no leaks and my oil consumption has dropped to almost nill with the rebuilt engine and M1 Truck and SUV oil.

S4's are nice, just be careful who's you buy, I have seen too many of them beat at that mileage, and if the Turbo's haven't been replaced then I would seriously consider that when negotiating price as you will most likely have to, also check for oil leak problems, the early one's are prone to this.

Otherwise, I'd say hit it.

Default I'd still figure in the expense to repalce the turbos within a year/15k.

Not that they will go, but there is a slight chance they will, and the cost o the repair is grat enough to bea large burden if not expectd. Also, I would spend more than 13k on a Stock B5 S4 with 92k on it. I know of one that is in similar condition to sell for $9,500 recently, private sale, no warranty.

Once you get KO4s in the B5, you won't have a thing to worry about for a long time, and make a considerable amount of power with lots of reliability.

Good luck with the purchase.
