tips on opening b3 hood without the release cable?

tips on opening b3 hood without the release cable?
I can't quite get at the passenger side release with anything. I tried a coathanger to hook the loop from behind the grille (I have the bumper off) and pull to no avail (the hanger is just bending instead of pulling)... I can't get at it from the opening for the corner signal since the headlight is in the way...
Anyone have any tips? My battery died and car is dead until I can get it open.
