Trunk wires
The short/s caused my auto-box to go into limp(gimp)-home mode and the starter to not function. Anyways the harness is un-plugged now and my trans has been re-programed. I would like to know what kind of wire I should use to splice.

Someone mentioned using networking (Cat 5) cable.
Not sure if it is a thick enough gauge though...
I think there are 8 wires in the trunk and Cat 5 also has 8. Just make sure it is stranded wire and not solid as the solid Cat 5 isn't very flexible.

That was me... here's the write-up on the cheap 'n easy trunk wiring fix...
The key is to use more wire where it bends when the trunklid closes so that it doesn't pinch like the factory wiring did, then the wire will last longer. I've been using my no-cost phone wire fix for three months now, and all through the winter thus far.. no problems. PS - I got a foot of 8-conductor phone wire for free from Radio Shack (have it in bulk)
Yeah, got the foot of wire for free, cut-out the bad section, then soldered-in the new connections very meticulously, wrapped it all with electrical tape so it was black and uniform with the old wiring, and I was done... works like a charm.
Another thing that will help the wire's vitality is the electrical tape wrapping... it'll stop the bending.
