Wanna hear something funny?
So I just got around to doing my ignition switch. I had been cheating by letting another old switch hang. Well I finally get the originally switch out...and the end of the tumbler is also broke off inside the switch! Just my luck grr. So as cheap as tumblers are, how do I get a new tumbler to match my current key if possible?

Be glad you can still get them...
95 Ford Escort - 5speed...
My wife (then my gf) called my up one afternoon... she was in the parking lot at school... the ignition was in the 'On' position, the key had full range of motion, but nothing would happen. She could even pull the key out, but the ignition would stay 'On'.
Got it towed to the dealership that evening... and I drove 150km to have a look at it (after driving home after work, stripping the ignition switch out of a parts car... another '95 escort 5-speed). Strip out the lower dash section, finally get the darn ignition switch out, and out falls the end of the tumbler.
So I can start it (screw driver to turn the ignition switch), and drive it (key in the ignition to unlock the steering wheel). Drive it to her work, explain how it all works... and set out to find her a new tumbler.
Turn out... they are NLA. Only one available is for the automatic.
So... had to strip the entire steering column out of our parts car, swap around ignition key tumblers, and reinstall in her car. Meanwhile... she drove about 2 months using a screwdriver to start it.
