My alt bearing is cooked... I have a bearing, but I don't want to be stranded because
I abosultely positively can't miss work tomorrow. I guess I'll get a new alt instead. Damn, and I just replaced the voltage regulator.

I've done several.....
Never a Bosch unit. But basically, you use an impact to remove the front nut, pull the nut and pulley off, remove the casing screws, pull the two sections apart (the brushes will fall out), tap out your bearing (front or rear), put the new one in, then reinsert the brushes into their channels - there will be two holes in the back of the casing that you can stick paperclips through to hold the spring-loaded brushes in place while you put both sections back together. Wow, that was a run-on sentence.
GM "CS" alternators are very easy. I've probably taken 30 of them apart to replace the rear bearing or re-clock the alternator, I'd have to look at a Bosch unit closely today to examine. Maybe I'll take one apart at work today and give you come pics?
