Default BINGO! Give the man a cigar! I'm thinking taking down the pins to...

about half. What do you think?

Default Just take off 1-2mm, no need for 1/2

Once you've got decent clearance to the rotor, they'll never rub as they don't move with the pads.

Default Sheesh, you guys. Dont do anything of the sort. You only need maybe .020" between pin and rotors...

your caliper pistons in that pic are completely retracted. Once you have them installed, filled with fluid and bled your pistons will push the pads out to the rotors. I can barely fit a matchbook cover between my rotors and those pins when rotor is centered between them. Yet have no problem using the pads down to the metal backings without pins ever making contact with the rotor. Remember pads move, pins dont!

Default My pins are making slight contact on the rotors. Calipers are in perfect working order....

seems I read on the UK S2 forum about some of the guys saying shaving the pins help.

Default if thats the case then a thicker rotor is being used than the caliper was designed to use...

wont hurt anything and in that case you're right, ie; shaving em down a smidge will help. But if a match book cover fits between pins and rotor thats all you need if everything well planned and laid out correctly and the rotors are centered between the pins.

Given that just measure rotor thickness and gap between pins. Then remove pin length by an amount equal to rotor thickness plus .020" overall via .010" pin shortening per side.

Default Or....

The rotor he has is warped....I ran into this issue with brand new A8 rotors...one of them was rubbing on the pin even after I filed the pins a 1mm each...as the A8 rotor is 30mm and OE Porsche was 28mm....I had to do some more material removal and now all is good.
