Re: it would be cool if it were legal to just run straight pipes in my audi
Straight pipes would sound like **** (open manifold sounds wierd, btdt). 12v's with gutted or no cats sound like poop too.
Wheels, you could probably fit 17x8's with a narrow-enough tire. 17x7.5 w/215/45-17's fit btw.

if you've ever heard staight pipes....I don't think you'd be saying such a thing
2.0L 16v Jetta race car. SS headers. 2.5" front to back.
the guys with the Vettes and straight pipes were asking why it was so LOUD!?!
it hurt. but dam it was fast!
cats are good things too. every car should be tested annually. our air quality is terrible...

When the cat on my B4 90 died and clogged the exhaust...
The car would barely run and it was the middle of winter and too cold to work on my car for very long periods. What I did was just cut the cat out of the exhaust altogether.
I thought it sounded great. Very noticable gain in willingness to rev. I think the exhaust system would be great with some dual 2.5" pipes, no cat, glasspacks in place of the mid muffler, and some cheapo muffler in place of the rears (Borla? Magnaflow?)
