Let me count...
The two lower ones for front brake disc cooling ducts.
Center one for the intercooler.
Driver's side one for oil cooler.
Passenger side one for air intake.
Grill opening for the condenser/radiator.
The only reason to get an aftermarket bumper is if A. your stock one got damaged in an accident. B. you need room for the turbo conversion.
Both A & B apply to my car.

Re: Let me count...
The oil coolers, from the factory, on the 5cyl cars (turbo-model-only for the B-series) were always on the passenger side, never the drivers side. That holds for the C-series cars too, except a lot more of those got oil coolers (the '87 5kq with the NF code 10v has one, as do most type44 5cyl cars irregardless of gas, diesel, or turbo).

Re: black piece at the bottom- serves a very useful purpose! ;O)
Its not there simply for looks, but actually helps protect the bumper from damage! Drive around a bumper that low with out one, and you see! ;O)
