Ignition key stuck

Ignition key stuck
Hello all, I have a 2013 A1 dsg sline 185hp, last week the key got stuck in the barrel and i couldn’t turn the ignition off. It took over an hour before finally the key turned off. I have been told this could be the ignition switch at other end of barrel. I am replacing this switch tomorrow but any advise if this isn’t the fault?
