I own an Audi A3 TDI 110 pk (bought in the year 2000).

Since I drive about 60.000 km a year, my dealer suggested to me to use
the Long Life Service, so I only have to go back to the
dealer for maintenance every 50.000 km
(depending on driving style, short/long distances, ...).

Yesterday I brought my car to the dealer for its first maintenance (49.000 km).
My dealer uses Castrol SLX Long Life Oil (Audi certified).

When I press the left button on the dashboard, the indicator says "Service in 15.000 km".

Is this normal or should it say "Service in 50.000 km"?

According to me the indicator said "Service in 35.000 km, ..." before the maintenance.
According to my dealer the indicator never gives an indication beyond 15.000 km.

Can someone who also uses the Long Life Service help me out? Thanks in advance.

Generally, the indicator should show 'Service in 15,000km'.

Indeed, my A3 1.8T has got another problem: everytime after filling the fuel tank, the indicator will show a different figure, i.e sometimes 19,200km, sometimes 12,300km.

What's happening exactly?

After driving around about 1.500 km the amount of kms shown on the service indicator seems to grow steadily. It now shows 46.700 kms.

Does anyone know how the service indicator really works?
