2020 A3 transmission shudder
Hi all,
I have a 2020 A3 FWD 17k miles and the transmission shudders. This didn’t always happen and now it happens way more often. It began with it only shuddering when I would operate my car for the first time in a while and sometimes when it was being used for a bit. For example, when I would go to work in the morning after it would sit over night.
Now it happens way more frequently. I’d be surprised if my car didn’t shudder once or so every other drive. It seems to happen going into the second gear and can get so bad it feels like I’m shaking a lot in my seat.
I’ve brought this issue up to my dealership multiple times. They keep on dismissing it but I insist it isn’t normal. They say “well it could be because it’s still warming up. It’s normal for the transmission to shudder like that and even if you warm it up, it’ll still do that” or “Do you not stop all the way at stop signs? If you drive like that, it can be because of that”
I understand that cars should warm up but I do give it time to warm up (not every time but most times) and it isn’t only when I first operate the car, it’s at stop lights when I’ve been driving it for a bit too.
At this point, my family’s $15k Toyota is running smoother than my $40k Audi. I don’t think this is normal but they keep insisting it’s normal. (They’ve insisted other things that I eventually got fixed under warranty were normal too).
Anyone else have this issue, have any advice, or know what it could be?
