Default A3 Brakes .... servo thing... not working all the time...

I got a 1998 A3 1.6SE, and I felt something strange about the Brakes once in a while recently, so I took it in to the dealerships and they said there is nothing wrong with it....

But I have finally figured out, what it is...

When Im accelerating fast, and if I Brake imediatly, as you would do in an emergency, then the Brakes feel very hard to press down, nearly as hard as when your engine is switched off (I think its called the servo or something...). (and it takes longer to slow down!!!!) But if I take my leg off the Brake and press it again, then its very easy and back to normal.

Im kind of woried about the saftly aspect now, but I can't really demenstrate it to the dealers either, as it only happens once in a while!

What shold I do???????

(is this gona end up costing me lots, as they might end up saying something like, we have to change the whole system, so Im tempted to wait till my september service!)

it looks like, its the same things...

But I have driven a few cars and none of them did this......

Its not very safe of Audi, it might even be a design fault.

So none of you manage to get Audi to fix it then?

Hi

I had a major accident in August last year as a result of brake "failure" in my 2000 A3 1.8T. I haven't been able to determine the cause, but your description of the brakes feeling very hard but not responding is EXACTLY what happened to me. I didn't have time to react, went on to pavement (to avoid car ahead of me) and unfortunately collided with a postbox. This caused the car to overturn. Added to this, the airbags didn't even inflate. Audi describes all of this as perfectly normal and denies any responsibility!
