What about upside down?
Did you try to turn the Phatbox upside down so that you don't have to remove the "fins"? It looks like there is space on top of the Phatbox because it is not flat.
I wonder if it is OK to do so.

PB is still thickest in the middle
The PB can actually be forced into the slot rightside-up with the fins still there, but you will see the bottom of the slot bending down with the stress. It didn't look good to us, so off the fins went. Upside down, the middle fins will be still pressing against the PB since that's the thickest part.
If you're worried about later switching to an OEM changer, you can always use a piece of foam in place of the fins then. That's partly why I kept the changer tray intact. If I sell the car, I can always yank out the PB and slide in the tray.

Which Radio Type did you use?
Did you select Radio Type C or Radio Type D as shown on a piece of paper that comes with the PhatBox -or- select a radio type based on the "Radio Setup Guide" on the Phatnosie support site http://www.phatnoise.com/downloads/3301-HUSETUP_web.pdf ?
Thanks.

non-nav is a concert II
I used the instructions on page 9 of <a href="http://www.phatnoise.com/audi/downloads/05-16-03%20A4%20CAB%20PhatNoise.pdf">this guide</a>.
"Select Audi Concert with single CD or Symphony with in-dash CD changer stereo".
You got your PB installed already?

Re: non-nav is a concert II
I just finished last night. I removed the entire casing instead of cutting the PhatBox so that I don't have to modify the CD changer slot. I now need some velco to stablize it. I will be looking for somthing to protect the electronics from dust, although I don't open the glovebox that often.
Mine is a Sympony II. So it is the same radio type. I will use both type D and R and try to find out differences in operations.
The only tricky part is connecting to the head unit the first time. The head unit has to be ON.
The only problem is that I am not able to delete two of the Phatnoise introduction tracks. They don't show up in the software but it is there on the DMS when I browse the CDC via various modes: "Unknown Artist - Unknown album".
I will do some manual reading tonight. It is not obvious how I can get the Phatbox to play through all CDs sequentially.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
