Default A3 road test this morning... Sum bitch!

I traded cars with my friend last night so I could take her new A3 to work today. I have a glorious commute; 42 mi. starting with a great twisty mountain, then a small town followed by a few miles of Interstate Highway, then some more back roads to work.
Her car is a 6 speed and FWD (are they all?) and a 2.0T (are they all?). I don't really like bigger cars and I thought this car was one of the finest I've "tested" on my route. Since I've driven this route for 14 years, it has given me the chance to do the same comparison with many different cars. There's some closing radius and off camber turns, some turns with dips that really upset cars and some steeps.

I know I'm preaching to the choir but you all are driving a great car. I am now considering one..

Can't wait for lunch, C.

Default hahaha!

welcome to A3-land.

In the states:

2.0T = fwd + a choice of DSG or 6MT
3.2 = quattro + DSG only

Add tires, a chip, and a rsb and the A3 is a LOT more fun to drive!

Default 15 months since new - I still grin like a 16year old when I see it in the driveway,

and I look forward to driving it everyday. The fact that it's a complete stealthmobile just adds to the fun. There are only 4 or them here in Tulsa - rarer than Gallardos and F430's. Ha!

Default Lunch is over... 2 questions...

I'm sure this gal is running 87 octane. My Saab is very sensitive to this. How about this 2.0T?

The spec PDF on this site says 4 valves/cylinder. I thought all these 4 bangers were the 5V head.. What up? C.

Default Are all 2.0's 4V ?.....

I've been out of touch with this board for a couple years. Can you answer a couple questions?

Our '98 A4 had the 2.8 30V. I think a 3.0 30V followed. When did the narrow angle V6 start. Are all 3.2's narrow angle or was there a 3.2 90 degree V6?

I thought our new lease car, an A4 Avant 2.0T, was a 20V 2.0... is it a 4V head?

Catching up. Thanks, C.

It is recommended that you use a minimum of 91 Octane. Some have used 89, but when I finally found some 93 in my area, I could not believe the difference. I have had a flash done, though.

Yes, this is 4 valves per cylinder on the 2.0T. So far I love this engine's performance.

Default Direct injection = 4 valves

Need to put the injector somewhere, eh?

Why on earth would you want another valve? This little wonder of an engine makes 100hp per liter (stock) and still gets great gas mileage.
