A3 vs 9-2x? rather bassackwards choices by the 'rents of those two...
Audi offers its first a non-awd car (in about 20 years), while Saab FINALLY builds itst first awd car.
Understanding the 9-2x is nothing but a nicely tarted up Subaru WRX, and the A3 is a similarly tarted-up Golf, how many here considered both?
With the GM discount knocking a whopping $8k off the 9-x aero, it almost seems like no contest? (aside, I really like the looks of the A3, not so much the 9-2x). I've owned BMW, saab, MB, though mostly Audi, and if I'm a loyalist it is to Audi over the others, but the 9-2x, for as highly lauded as the WRX driving experience is, seems a real interesting buy for under $20k for an AERO model (base, add for other things).
I've not driven either, don't know that I'd buy either, but it sure seems an interesting choice...
What do the rest of y'all think?

Just remember that that nothing ever gets discounted without a reason.
It just depends on whether those reasons matter to you too or not. If you search, this topic has come up here a number of times - and discussed in great detail.

Search this forum. This topic was discussed here recently.
Bottom line is they're discounting the cars because they can't move them. They were obviously overpriced to begin with.
If you're shopping for a price/payment, the Saabaru is a no brainer. If you're shopping for something else, such as better aesthetics (inside and out), free scheduled maintenance, solid build, DSG, etc., then the Audi warrants serious consideration.
In the end, it's what puts a smile on your face every time you go to drive it.

I agree re value/fit/finish/looks, I just think its a shame Audi d/n offer awd on the A3
If both had awd and similar performance capability, the Audi is hands down the 'value' winner, even at a higher price point.
However, the little Saabaru is apparently the 'fun to drive' winner, and its $10k less expensive. And, yes, probably $10k worse looking and 'feeling'. But it begs to be driven at 8/10's all day long, at which point you're not paying a lot of attention to the quality of the plastics, eh?

April is absolutely right. If you're getting AWD for winter purposes, I've had no issues getting
around in upstate NY (aka winter hell hole) with my lowered FWD passat with some 16" 205/55/16 Dunlop Wintersport M2s.
