AMD helpful info (long but v.interesting :) )
I case you are considering visiting AMD, the following is the very helpful response I received to my enquiry about the ChipStar Piggy-back chip...
"David, as good as ChipStar is, we wouldn't recommend it for the A3 T sport.
The reason is that this particular model has some highly complex sofware in
the ECU for calculating boost againsts engine speed, load, temperature, etc,
etc. It's a much more comprehensive method of boost control than provided by
any previous ECU's. It's therefore wisest to stick with the standard ECU
and then rechip it.
If undetectability is your main concern (i.e. the reason you were opting for
ChipStar rather than rechipping), then may I allay your fears on this front.
The way we rechip is undetectable, either visibly or via the VAG engine
test/fault code equipment. Sure, it costs more, - £450 plus VAT as opposed
to about £360 plus VAT (the fitted and mapped price for ChipStar) but the
rechip result will always be better on account of being able to use the
inbuilt boost control on the Audi ECU. We normally get between 35 and 40bhp
(45-50lbs ft torque) extra from rechipping. To get a similar result with
ChipStar (i.e to map boost against load) we'd have to provide a MAP sensor
which would add another £100 or so, and would defeat the object of having
all that lovely software in your ECU.
Whilst ChipStar is great for engines without forced induction, or for
turbocharged engines with less sophisticated ECU control (most others!),
yours is a slightly different case."
Now I'm REALLY tempted !!!

Another day has past, and I'm happier than ever with the chip - getting home from work and going out driving has never been so exciting (Who would have thought my life has come to this......)

Interesting Indeed...
Especially 10 days post AmD rechip!
Buy it, you wont regret it. Let us know where you are in the country, pester one of us for a drive and you will be convinced 100%.
Only downside I have found is that Michelin will be reciving increased custom from me now!
