Just got rid of my B7 S4 (for various reasons). I was thinking of adding the APR chip to my new A3 2.0T, but I have one worry. I don't have half the grip I used to have at take off from a stop (quattro with the S4 obviously). Actually, I get a lot of tire spin. Has anyone chipped their A3 with the APR chip? Does the increased power and torque make take offs even worse?

...grip is noticeably worse now. 1st gear was always difficult but now so is 2nd gear. I really have to be careful with the throttle in 1st gear now. I have the sport suspension so already have a relatively stiff suspension which helps, but I do have the IMHO crappy Pirelli P6 all seasons. A set of grippier ultra or max performance tires would help quite a bit as would wider tire (not necessarily 235s but a wider-spec tire - check manufacturer specs). Aside from that, there's not really much to do about it. Unfortunately traction will always be an issue with this car, especially with the torque capability of this engine when modified. It's just how 'tis with these FWD cars.
