April/Verdegrrl: You hear anything about Alfa Romeo coming to the states?
I forget which American magazine it was, but some article mentioned Alfa Romeo has definite plans to come to the states in 2-3 years. I know. I know. They've been saying that for years and then retracting their statements. But this article was fairly up-to-date because it mentioned the departure of GM involvement and how Alfa is now aligned with Maserati. The only two models planned for now are the Berra (spelling?) and it's convertible companion version. Cars would be sold at Maserati dealerships.
I know Alfa has had many on-and-off again plans regarding coming to the states, but this article seemed the most definite with specific details. What have you heard?
BTW, what's the Berra model? I cannot find it on the Alfa Romeo website. I'm trying to get an idea what class level those vehicles are at, and what they compete against. Basically, I'm trying to see if I can afford one, if I start saying my pennies now. It would be so cool driving an Alfa (red, of course) in the states in a few years. One big problem is my nearest Maserti dealership is approximately 50 miles away from me.

Yes, it keeps coming up. Plans seem further advanced this time, but who knows?
The Brera isn't out yet. See the link below for more details.<ul><li><a href="http://www.italiaspeed.com/2005/cars/alfa_romeo/02/brera/1602.html">Good site for Italian car news</a></li></ul>
