Hello lady’s and gents I’m wondering if somebody can shine some light on my on going issue please.
I have a 2007 Audi A3 1.8 tfsi s line, engine code BYT.
I bought this car not running with broken timing chain. It was not a lot of money but it’s a 1 owner car with 79k on the clock so I thought it was worth saving. Anyways ended up having 8 inlet valves and guides, chain etc… put it all back together, run it up lovely. How ever….. on road test it would not Rev above 3000 rpm… looked into it a bit more and the fault stored was P2293 (fuel pressure regulator B performance) carried out some other tests and found the high pressure pump had failed. I have inspected the cam lobe and bucket and i wouldn’t say it is worn whilst I was in there. The next day cylinder 4 injector failed, I replaced all 4 injectors due to the carbon build up also I found swarf in the fuel so not cutting a corner I have replaced low pressure fuel pump high pressure fuel pump 4x injectors and a fuel filter and fuel rail pressure sensor lol. Now the car drives much better how ever I’m still getting the same fault but it’s very intermittent now. When it’s cold it will pull right up the Rev range and could be fine all day, the fault now seems to happen when it’s warmed up and I come to a stop, go to pull off again…. Nothing 3000 rpm that’s it, how ever if I hold my foot flat to the floor after 20 seconds or so it will Rev up. I have also noticed the low pressure pump will change tone when this fault happens, I have put another pump in from Audi incase it was faulty but still the same.
I hope this is a detailed enough lol
