Audi A3 2006 automatic won't activate D drive
Hello. I have an Audi A3 2006 petrol automatic 6 speed transmission car. For some time now the gear shifter handle won't activate the D drive. When I put the selector handle in D, the transmission doesn't go the first speed the same time. The D drive stalls a few seconds, then it suddenly jerks into first speed. After that the car drives smoothly and changes speed normally with no problem. Slowly the D drive is taking longer and longer to activate. When it is in D and I press the gas, the speed gauge in the Dashboard jumps to 5. Some time ago, I drove the car all the way home in speed 5. A few days ago it took more than an hour to activate the first speed. In the end I had to call a towing service to tow the car home (not even turning off the ignition and re-starting the car didn't help anymore).
What could be the reason why the D drive does not activate? The R gear works fine. They told me the problem is a faulty transmission, but the car has little mileage on it. I am thinking that maybe the cause is a faulty gear selector cable (?). Can anyone help me with this problem?
