Look at the competition: Infiniti FX35 (very nice), Lexus, Mazda, Subaru. Must be sporty to compete.

Default FX35 is more of an on road SUV....

very nice but nothing like a 5 door A3. Mazda Protege wagon ... is okay but not for me. I guess I am just not a wagon kind of person. I like the new A4 avant, but I still prefer the sedan. To me the 3 door GTI and A3 are sporty looking. Technically they are still wagons if you think about it... with two less doors!

Default It is amazing that the 5-door is soon to come out and there are no real spy photo's. I would like

to see a 5 door hatch, not a wagon. I liked the last 5-door A3, and I hope the new one is similar. I agree with your frustration with Audi/VW they take far too long to bring product to market. Look at the A4, it needs a 2.0T with 200hp. This should have come for 2003 at the latest. Now it looks possible for 2005.

Default Yes a 5 Door hatch could be nice....... Audi should have...

introduced a new engine with the B6 A4 platform. I know the 3.0 is new and it is nice engine. The 1.8T is also a great engine but is better suited for the VW lineup and TT models. A 200 hp 2.0T engine would be great. The car needs some more displacement and horsepower to move its heavyweight body! I was thinking about trading in the A4 for a 20th VW GTI but I don't wanna lose quattro. I may however get the R32 if it ever makes it over.

FX35 is a cross-over. Lower it and you have a 5 door "sport break", tho larger than normal. (IMO)

Default You are correct. the 2.0T should have come with the B6. The 1.8T is

great for a lightweight car but the A4 is too heavy now for that motor. I am waiting on the A3 5-door or a A4 Avant with the 2.0T, but I am becoming impatient.

Default I don't know if I can wait anymore.... R32 is looking nice...

I am even thinking about trading the A4 in for a 20th anniv. GTI. This is so confusing...

I would wait for the A3, don't think any VW is the answer.
