Check Engine Light reads: P0171 System Too Lean (bank 1)
Anyone know any common problems associated with this?
My friend said it's the O2 Sensor, but if that was faulty how would it know if the system is too lean?

Please don't listen to your friend on this one.
Quickly searching around, it appears this is typically a vacuum leak. Knowing this code from other vehicles, it's usually a vacuum leak.
The O2 sensor is reading properly and alerting you of the issue. Replacing the sensor will simply cost money and give you the same result.

I've got this code coming up right now. Had an injector go out on my 2011 S5. Had all replaced and had the intake manifold cleaned for carbon build-up. Car ran well for a couple days before the check engine light came on. Stopped on way home to get gas and the cap was loose. Re-tightened and the light went off. Two days later, same thing. I do have another one ordered. Could this cause this code? Car seems to be idling a little rough but it might be psychological at this point. Don't really see any power loss but the car has an APR Stage III and I rarely push it. Any ideas? Checked for obvious hose leaks and check valve but all looks good. Did the original poster discover the cause for the P0171 code?
