Default Dead pedal position on the A3

This past month I purchased an A3 to go along with my A4 2.0 I bought last year. The cars are much different that I thought they would be. Even with the same engine they drive and even shift differently. Granted the A4 is Quattro which makes a big difference but I was a little surprised by how different the total feel of the two cars would be.

One aspect of the A3 that I just have not been adjusting to very well has been the drive position of the left foot. The dead pedal in the A3 is much closer than the A4. The A4 seems to be even to the rest of the floor while on the A3 it seems to be indented forward for some reason. Is there a reason the A3 was designed this way? It's taking a lot of adjustment for me everytime I change from one car to the other.

A few other notes of interest on my two. Continental tires on the A3 much better than the Pirellis on my A4. My A3 came with a concert stereo which IMO is a piece of crap when compared to the Symphony. I had no regret that I didn't upgrade to Bose from the Symphony but the difference in quality on the Concert is huge. I had no desire to after market the Symphony but big time plans to after market the piece of crap Concert.

No auto adjustment on the passengers side seat of the A3? Inexcuseable for a car this price. But then mysteriously they add nice feature that my A4 did not come with. Dimming rear view mirror and outside light turn on when opening door and when opening car door with the remote.

But overall loving both cars. And with the no Quattro feature on the A3 I'm finally figuring out what that little yellow light with the squiggly lines is all about.

Default The lights is an option both on the A4 and A3..

Not sure what packages they go along with on either car but I don't h ave that on my A3.

Dead pedal I have not noticed since most of the driving I do is test drives and my foot stays on the clutch. But I do like where it is on the A3. Further back would actually probably bother me if its actually noticeable on the A4.

And I've got a manual driver seat too on my A3.. Power would be inexuseable ... I don't need the weight nor do I want power seats.

No dimming rearview on mine either.. Another feature I can't stand. I know you can shut it off but I have never once even flipped the switch on a standard mirror for "night" position.

I"ve driven a bunch of each since I am a dealer tech and own an A3. I love the feel of the A3 over the A4.. A4 is fairly sloppy in my opinion. It is getting better compared to the early B5s but still doesn't seem as tight as the A3.. Quattro is nice Driven haldex and torsen cars in all sorts of weather conditions and it would be nice not to have to park the A3 in the snow.. but at the same time I'd rather park it then get it all F'd up and I just take my truck.. The drivetrain loss is more then I can deal with though.. I can tell the difference from the second I start to go that the rear is soaking up way too much power.

Default Slighly different moan, right (and correct) side driving position features no dead pedal

There is simply a carpet bump next to the engine/transmission tunnel.

Oh, and my armrest has developed a squeek...but that is all.
