Drove a GTI manual today. My 3.2 feels like a slug after that.

Default Yup, 2.0T + manual is a great combination

That's exactly what I said in my "mini review" below.

My $0.02 driving a friend's 2.0T from Darrington to Seattle, WA

Default Im sure there would be certain circumstances that I would but,

The nimbleness and fun factor were definitely more pronounced in the GTI. I have lost that lovin feelin for the 3.2 I'm afraid. I will be moving out of the city a bit further soon which means more cabbage for GAS. As a daily driver the GTI seems like a nifty choice.

Are you really surprised the GTI is supposed to be more sportier.

Are you referring to perceived speed or actual speed ??

Doesn't mater what the 'actual' numbers are. The feel of the GTI was much more involving.

Default I agree..

lighter cars are more fun to drive. Generally they bounce around alot more and that often gives the impression of going faster.

As a joke/test on a previous car I added 10 pounds of air pressure to the tires and lowered my seat all the way down and could have sworn I added 50 hp

My Dad had a Bug Eye Sprite and even though it wasn't that quick it was so low to the ground and so light 60 mph felt about the same as 100 mph in the Audi. That car was a blast

The Sprite was low enough to pass under the guard gate at various military bases. That was always a surprise to an unsuspecting passenger when traveling 50 mph under the gate. Of course this was back in the innocent 70's.
