Fix for seat belt light not turning off

If you are not afraid of a little fidling then this can save you a few bucks... Current prices on ebay are around $100
I had a seatbelt that didn't shut off the light when the seatbelt buckle was in the seat belt latch.
The way it is designed is that there is a closed circut when the buckle is out and a open circut when the buckle is in place. However due to dust and a bit of wear the opening of the circut is a bit fragile and therefore eventually the connection doesnt open and you may either have an intermittent problem or it will not work at all, and you will have the annoying beeping while driving...
So to fix this you need a
an
M12 triple-square tool (for the seat)
M10 triple-square tool (for the seatbelt hatch)
Be careful manhandling the seat as there is a cable for the airbag...
Once the seat belt hatch is off here comes the fidly bit.
Insert a small screwdriver at the bottom on the side the that has the number (8P0 857 755 D 01C). Start prying gently until the two prongs holding the plastic together snap
(you may want to try and pry close to where the prongs are located about 2/3 up the length (See the 2 first pictures below.)
If you do it gently you should be able to glue them together when done.
Remove the cover from the connector housing (see picture below). Clean out any lint from the connector housing and take out the metal connectors. Bend the connector that has a bend, slightly more forward. Put back the connectors and check that green bar disconnects the circut when pushing down either using a seat belt buckle or a screwdriver on the green bar. With a multimeter check that the connection is open and closes correctly, if not start over with a little more fiddly bending. Once satisfied glue it back together and remount. It is an easy job but may take a much a 2-3 hours.
