Genuine concerns about performance

Re: Genuine concerns about performance
From the actual R&T review:
Although our car wasn't equipped with the firmer springs and performance tires of the optional Sport package ($1800), it was still fun to drive. The performance numbers match what one might expect from aptly named Fourseasons Pirelli tires. A low 0.71g performance on our skidpad left no doubt about their lack of performance. The stock suspension is plush and in dire need of the Sport package. Audis are typically softly sprung for a more comfortable ride, which is good for a luxury car, but somewhat in contrast to the sporty character of the engine and transmission.
At the test track with the ESP disabled, quick transitions through the slalom would induce massive tail slides. On the skidpad, the visibly worn section of tire sidewall confirmed the car's excessive roll.<ul><li><a href="http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=3&article_id=2396">http ://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=3&article_id=2396</a</li></ul>

caterhams powered by vinegar and baking soda?
can't exactly compare different drivers on a track day. put a competent driver behind a caterham super 7 and there isn't much in it's power range that will keep up short of full on race cars.

That makes two sporting car mags that tested "premium" rather than "sport"...
pack equipped A3s. Autoweek is the other one. This weeks Autoweek does say that they have had 7,000 trouble free miles so far. Their A3 is a long term test car.
When are they going to have a test/review of an A3 3.2Q by the print mags with some numbers?

Take a look at the numbers from other mags... R&T is WAY off!

It was a street (vs time trial or race) class and the Caterhams were my biggest compeition.
They weren't working the Caterhams nearly so hard as I was my A3 - I was being merciless ;-)
I had instructors ride and drive with me who agreed, there wasn't anything else you could do to go faster with the way the car was set up.
The rent Caterhams at some Alfa events. And you're right, the right person in a Caterham should have been able to dust me - but I guess the right one wasn't there that weekend. One guy tried very very hard though ;-)
