Ghetto ashtray replacement

Put some fine-grain rubber material in the space-formerly-known-as-ashtray. Just a holdover until I purchase the audi ashtray-delete tray. Anyone with this tray, how deep (vertical) is it? From what I can tell from pix of the audi tray, it doesn't look like it takes full advantage of the depth that I'm getting in these pix.
