bottomline up front......
Maybe I don't read enough to appreciate this style of writing. I am more of a get to the point kind of guy, 17 paragraphs and he finally get to the meat. After all that pointless discourse, anything he had to say about the car was suspect.

This is a bit old but still relevant.

amen to that, "dude, just cut the crap and get to the point!!" but what i am really wondering is...
... the extra doors aside, how different would a chipped 2.0TQ (if we ever get one, that is) be from the "S3"?

Seems audi did a poor job of "tuning" the S3...
my car made more tq to the wheels than that car makes to the crank and I have almost no lag whatsoever? What gives?
One good reason why audi wont give us a quatro A3 2.0 might be the fact that the tuners will easily turn it into an S3 killer. Given the fact that we're even less likely to see an S3 or better yet an RS3, they're not going to give the US a quatro A3 2.0 and not offer them in europe. They can't sell an A3 2.0q over the pond with chip-tuned A3 quatros running circles around them.
What they should do is make an S3 with the 2.7tt from the B5 S4 but pump it up to 275hp and sell it as well here with all the luxury that an S has.
With an RS3 being the same motor tuned to 300+ and a more aggressive suspension and brakes and a weight reduction via less creature comforts, light seats, maybe some carbon... and sell it here too!
And then give us an A3 2.0q... so we can build our own 4-door S3s with a few or as many mods as we want. Wouldn't matter how much $$$ you spent on you A3 2.0q... the same $$$ dumped into an S3 2.7tt would still kill you.
As far as the 3.2 from the R32 being a better motor... no f'ing way. I kill those things and short of a blower or turbo conversion (big $) you have limmited tuning posibilities and a healthy, properly tuned 2.0, will always kill that motor. and it's lighter!
end rant. no spellcheck.
