side markers are slightly behind the front wheel well, not inside the front light assembly.

Sorry, I thought the question was directed to the rear of the vehicle.

I have only reflectors on the side, no bulbs.

2010+ models have no side markers on the fender. They're part of the side mirrors.

Correct you are and the side view mirrors are flashing at the normal rate. I've noticed that if I don't apply the brakes or use the lt. turn signal, I don't get the warning indication on the dash board. I wonder how long can I drive before the warning light comes on, in the dashboard. I wonder if there is some connection between applying the brakes and the warning light in the dash. I am just grasping at straws, because this whole thing is not making sense. Everything appears normal except for the warning light and rapid blinking of the lt. turn signal.

probably some filament in the rear bulb that does double duty broke. Best to swap left and right bulbs to see if the fast blink changes to the other side, and swap individual bulbs to narrow it down to a specific one.

It would take all of ten minutes and a 10mm deep socket to pull the rear lamps and do a visual...that is what it took for me to fix the exact same problem....

I will have to investigate how to access that area. Is the access panel covered in carpeting?
