Default Noobi Questions?

Open Sky does it stop half way and you have to repress the button a 3rd time to actually get it open all the way?

Is that the GPS anntenna on the roof or satellite radio? Does semi-metalic tint screw with the GPS?

When do you do your first oil change? Just after break-in. Within the first couple of miles. This question is based on breaking in the engine can result in metal fillings. Thinking of doing it just after break-in.

Thanks,
Jack

Default Answers:

The 1st stop is the "Comfort position"--it's the point at which you should not get any wind buffeting when driving at higher speeds.

The roof antenna is GPS, satellite radio, and cell phone(if so equipped).

First oil change at 5,000 miles. The oil filter is there to take care of metal particles....

Default more details

1) Open sky - 1st = tilt, 2nd = open half way, 3rd = open all the way (must hold button down)

2) GPS/Satelite antenna on roof. Tint will not screw with GPS or radio. FM radio antenna just above rear window.

3) 1st oil change after 5k (after break in).

Default Metalic tint will screw with AM while not moving.

It seems strange but AM is fine while moving but when at a stop I get bleed in from other stations. FM is not a problem.

Default My understanding is that metallic tint...

...will interfere with the reception / detection of various 'n sundry radar signals, while ceramic (Huper Optik, etc.) does not.

Default A slight correction--

(and your information may be perpetuated from my misunderstanding which was posted months ago).....

The AM and FM antennae are on the glass of the hatch (along with the heating leads). However, the antenna amplifier that switches between the different leads on the window (trying to get the best signal) is in the frame of the hatch above the glass.

Ceramic gives a flat black look right? Where semi-metalic gives a ever so slight metalic look right?

Default Ceramic, to me, looks very 'dark charcoal' (not black, per se)...

I went with 40% Huper Optik and I think it really wroks well with Lava -- would prolly be fine w/ just about any color combo, other than red (which really seems to benefit from a true black tint). It's dark enough to have a noticeable effect on heat gain, while still being translucent enough (from the outside) to avoid excessive hassling from the staties... at least I hope so! Also visibility from the inside is excellent, even at night. I had the top-of-the-line 3M premium tint in my old GLX, and while there was nothing really wrong with it, the Huper blows it away.
