Ordered A3 @ $500 over invoice
Today I pulled the trigger.

My technique was similar
I sent a full spec of every option I wanted, asking for a detailed quote back. I made sure to address them to the internet mgr by name. It was funny how some dealers just gave me some clown response "We'll take $1000 off today!" while the one I went with gave me a very clear and comprehensive reply. To top that, a price no one else would touch! The dealer in my town literally said (an i quote) "My suggestion to you would be to secure that vehicle through the dealership that quoted you that price immediately! We are offering at most a $300 discount on A3's and would not come close to the other offer." Heh heh thats exactly what I did.

Well Done! Great minds must think alike...LOL!
Being educated about the product is invaluable. These posts helped me greatly with practical information. I knew exactly what I wanted and what would be a reasonable fee for the dealership. In the end, a good dealership understands that a satisfied customer will return and may bring other customers. However, I don't want to celebrate quite yet.....the car has to be made and delivered. A3inNC keep me posted on your delivery date. I would be curious to know.

I thought it was a fair deal. I also got them to come down on the 4 year / 50k extended warranty - he came at me w/ $2,400, told to take a hike, left the room and came back to a new price of $1,600 - so I took that. Also got the Autobahnd - the 3M stone guard for $520.
