How can I find out if an S3-s mileage is correct? Can I go to the dealer and have the engine management system checked?

Im kind of suspicious about a 2000 S3 with only 13000 km......The servicebook seems to be clean, but the car looks more used than its supposed mileage....

Any audi mechanics here?

hi im an audi mechanic in essex, what do you want to know,the milages are set into the dash however once a dash is set it cant be altered to my knowledge, however there must be people able to do it.

Thing is; in Germany as well as in Holland there are many adverts by guys who claim they can turn back mileages on practically any car. Consequences are that practically everyone has his mileage turned back by some K miles and that you can not trust anyone unless the service intervals etc are up to date, and still....

Now a colleague of mine who drives an M5 says that the BMWs engine management computer, or whatever you call it, also stores mileage information.

Taken thats true, can Audi cars do the same? Cause then I could go to Audi and have the car checked.

that is true but for audis it displays the stored information there is no backup as i think you mean.audi should be able to check on dialog in your country, it is a direct link to audi ag.
this will tell exactually when and where your car was serviced and that should coinside with your service book, as long as it has been to main dealers!

You can turn back the mileage of an S3. You can always check the wear of the pedal and upholstery and the service book. But dont trust on what is written on the dashboard - it can be manipulated quite easy.
