Default S3 Performance vs modded A3 - a few thoughts/questions and riddled with assumptions

Assumption 1 (and a big one): S3 comes Stateside
Assumption 2: let's say it goes for about $40K

The S3 will come with larger turbo (assume KO4?) and tuning to 1.2 bar boost. A3 2.0 with smaller (is it a KO3?). Let's say you chip said A3 and push hp to 245-250 with mass (usable with fwd?) torque. Throw a new variable in the equation: Stasis A3 package - the big one. Now you have great suspension, LSD, Alcons, wheels/tires, and a tasteful bodykit for $9,700 (yes install could be hefty).

Couple discussion items:
1) it appears that stock tuning on the S3 with a KO4 produces conservative crank numbers (although i wouldn't call 1.2 bar conservative). Think S3 will be a lot more tunable?
2) for about the same price (BIG assumptions here again) you could have a full track packaged Stasis A3 (maybe even save a few bucks if you do some installs) --- and i understand participating Audi dealers still honor warranty.

I'm going through the rationalization process of possibly buying a 2.0t or HOPEFULLY waiting on official word (one way or the other) on the S3. I'm sure the 3.2 is nice, I just prefer turbo cars. I really disliked the feel of the fwd on the 2.0t i did drive (believe it was a sport package) in that wheel slip and torque steer (and general feel of stability) was an issue.

Any input or thoughts on my rambling would be appreciated. 3.2 with HPA Motorsports single turbo?

Quite possibly. Thoughts on the other elements though?

Default Having similiar thoughts. If you are seriously getting the A3 FWD - CALL ME.

I assume you are local, as you seem to have Mark's Avant. I am planning on building a A3 project car... it may be your car we use.

Default If the S3 makes it here...

Starting price would be more like $43-$45k. And I think the tunability would be there. Chipping the 2.0t with the larger turbo should throw both HP and ft./lbs close to 300. And with Haldex, I don't think any mods to the 2.0t FWD would come even close.

The turbo from HPA or a supercharger from VF are very interesting concepts for the 3.2Q. The problem is you would be looking at $11k and $7k for either. Making your 3.2Q a $43-$45k car with voided warranties. And with anything like 300HP I want manual transmission. This is why I am waiting on major mods to our 3.2Q until we see if Audi will bring this S3 over. I love my car but the S3 will be mine if it comes to North America!

Default The great part about doing a STaSIS Signature series package is the warranty...

You maintain your factory warranty through our authorized dealerships and have a concurrent warranty on all STaSIS products including the GIAC software. Basically you have any issue with any part on the car you take it right to the dealership like you have no modifications.

I'll say the A3 with the GIAC software, LSD, STaSIS suspension and STaSIS/Alcon brakes is just a joy to drive, that coming from a die-hard quattro fanatic. It's a great little package.

Cheers,

Default would it hold up in your old neck of the woods Alex? how about ice racing on the lake?:-)

Kidding aside, it does seem like a very good deal.
