I'm not sure this very important Marc. Result will depend on state of tune of engine - very different styles of car. S3 more a raw performance drive - S4 much more refined and "grown-up" - not ready for that yet (neither is bank manager

YEAH YEAH YEAH
I know they are different styles of cars. But you know, it's maybe possible that someone has a S3- chipped- and a S4 at home or a friend has one and have compared both cars.
i have driven both cars, but not at the same time. otherwise i would have compared myself and shut up here.
I was just wondering, is that allowed?

then 350bhp would be yours, and a chipped S3 wouldn't even see it go by, it's about time they put an S4 engine in a S3!

Don't know of anyone who has really compared the two.
Simple chip for S3 would give 250-260bhp, and something like 260 lb ft of torque. And that torque figure still falls short of the standard S4, at 295 lb ft. So the standard S4 might still beat the chipped S3, it's anyones guess I suppose.
But the S3 and the 1.8T could still be modified further, MTM do some serious tuning packages.
But John is right, the best thing anyone could do is put the S4 engine into the S3!
Anyway, there must be someone out there in an S3 who's had a crack at an S4!

In daily driving conditions the two cars mentioned should offer similar satisfaction to their owners. But if you take them to race track, S4 should kick S3's (250-260 bhp) ***, especially at straights. I think you need either the 306bhp MTM S3 (igor's car) or for even more spectacular results (hehe) the 326bhp MTM S3 in order to whoop S4's ***.

A close friend of mine is picking up his S4 in two weeks and I will be picking up my new S3 in six weeks. We both intend on getting work done but not for a short while.
If you can wait for a few months I'll let you know how the 260bhp S3 gets on with the stock S4.
The S4 is in a different class when it comes to the track and constant race conditions.
