Test drive experience 2.0 vs 3.2
Last night here in Raleigh, we had a monsoon. What better time to test drive an Audi? First car I drove was a silver 3.2. The throaty exhaust sig is pretty nice even with the stock. It's got A LOT of zip to it, and the quattro was really showing it's stuff in the rain. I also got to try out the auto windshield wipers. I never thought I'd ever use that type of gadget, but in this sporatic rain it was a pretty nice feature to have. My 3.2 had the ugly 17in wheels on it, and man they are ugly alright. However, I think they would be nice to keep for winter wheels, maybe get some nice BBS rims for the rest of the season.
Ok, next I drove a white 2.0. LOVE white on this car. I also really like the desert beige...one of those was on the lot as well. In the rain, the front wheel drive is pretty good as well. There was limited slippage and when it did, the ECS compensates without ripping the wheel out of your hand or making any sudden changes in speed or direction. The engine pep is still there, but it's NOTHING like the 3.2 in my opinion. I drive an S4 now, and the feel of the 3.2 is a lot more like that. All in all, the 2.0 was very fun to drive, however, I'm just really not a fan of front wheel drive. It's just so different from what i'm used to. I did drive a Premium edition though. Not sure how much differnt the sport would have felt.
The verdict, if I can swing it, I'm going to go with the 3.2. If it's too pricey, then I think I'm back to the drawing board as I'm not sure how happy I'll be with front wheel drive 2.0 If Quattro was on the 2.0, then it would be a no brainer.
Other cars of interest on the lot...the A6 4.2 is SWEET! The S4 25th edition is beautiful. It's more a pewter color than silver...they call it Avus silver. It's got carbon fiber spoilers front and back, and special 20 spoke wheels. I also really liked the new A6 Avant. Might have to recommend that one to my Mother. No Q's on the lot yet.
My dealer said the wait time, if I ordered the 3.2 before xmas, would be about 90 days. Pricing on the one I drove was $37,700. I did take some pics with my cell phone, but they didn't come out well enough to post on here.
