Which tire would you buy for your A3.
I have 23K miles on the OEM and I have to change them soon, please help with some advice.
Since I live in Seattle I'd choose All Season tyres.
Thank you<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR4&url=%2Ftires%2FCompareTires.jsp%3F sortValue%3D1%26amp%3BfilterType%3Dall%26amp%3Bres ultsNumberSelected%3DY%26amp%3BdisplayResults%3D10 %26amp%3Bcompare%3Dtrue%26amp%3BautoMake%3DAudi%26 amp%3Baut

summer? winter? all-season?
my fav summer tires are pzero nero and michelin ps2. they have amazing grip, excellent traction in the wet, great handling, and are light weight.

Well...
Had PZero Nero M+S. OK, but decided not to go with them again.
Ideally would have gotten the Bridgestone RE960AS, but could justify the cost over the ContiExtremeContacts. Ordered a set of those, getting them installed tomorrow or the next day. I put them on another car a couple of years ago and they've done well. We'll see how they do in 235/45-17 on the A3.

Re: Which tire would you buy for your A3.
I have had Toyo Proxes 4 on my A6 and like the price, the noise level, wear AND the handling. The tire has tested well in German magazines, but is almost never tested in the US because it is not sold by big distributors such as Tire Rack that invariably provide sets of tires to magazines. Go figure.
Our A3 has Conti 2 and one problem I noted with the North West is the freeways have usually a very noisy surface. Straight ribbed tires like the Conti 2 are really noisy in this condition. Changing to driving on Proxes 4 is a night for day change in terms of noise because of the 'gatorback' type tread pattern of the Toyo tends to be much quieter.
There are other good tires out there, the expensive Michelin Pilot A/S is ever bit as good, but almost 60% more expensive. I am sure others can describe the qualities of other M+S tires they have driven. The thing about the Toyo Proxes 4 is it does everything well, and it has a reasonalbe price.
Is it built on the same casing as the well known Proxes T1-R, so it is a true high performance M+S tire. The lack of side wall stiffness in many M+S performance tires is a real dissapointment first time, every time you take a corner. Turn-in on the Proxis 4 and it sticks! The tire has very good hydroplane resistance and excellent grip in all conditions except deep snow. In snow, you will survive, but it is no Hakkapeliitta.
Hope this recommendation helps. My feeling is you can't go wrong with the Proxes 4 M+S or for that matter, the summer Proxes T1-R. When the Conti wear out, the A3 will get the Proxes 4.
